"Liberals Fall Short of Extending Rights Yet Again"

Recently, the legislation proposed in the senate that would legalize homosexual relationships failed. Almost half of the Freie Demokratische Partei voted against it. This is most certainly shameful. As my frequent listeners know, I am highly critical of the FDP. Now, I'm no conservative. As you all know, I would consider my self to be a Social Democrat and staunchly SDP. The SDP, by the way, voted unanimously in favor of this bill.
So anyways, half of the FDP voted against this bill... seriously, guys. One of the foundational ideas of modern liberalism is supposed to be extending rights. The conservatives will have a field day against you. Most of Europe has legalized homosexual relationships yet our country falls flat! Why? The ruling FDP has taken the "enlightened centrist" approach to this which, of course, only prolongs suffering. If a leftist party ruled Saxony, we'd be the most progressive country in Europe.
I encourage you all to support the LGBT community in their ongoing struggle for rights. If you don't, you're misanthropic, not to mention mean-spirited!
